Admist the lofty pine.
Breathed a breath of freshness
And delighted in it's fragrance.
Hiked a narrow path of rich, red soil
Admired tiny yellow flowers
Glistening with morning dew.
Upward... the winding path led
To a hole in the earth.
I bid farewell to bright blue sky
And entered...fearfully.
Forward--blindly--
Through cold musty darkness
Hands on jagged stone--guided me
To a tiny beam of light
Shed on an old wood chest.
Heavy! was its dome
I raised to discover
My Old Rag Doll!!
And memories...
Of a childhood--forgotten.
I hugged and kissed this dear old friend
And gently lay her back to sleep.
Wiped the sting from my cheek
And headed home shyly.
