My Old Rag Doll

In awe... the beauty my eyes beheld
Admist the lofty pine.
Breathed a breath of freshness
And delighted in it's fragrance.
Hiked a narrow path of rich, red soil
Admired tiny yellow flowers
Glistening with morning dew.

Upward... the winding path led
To a hole in the earth.
I bid farewell to bright blue sky
And entered...fearfully.
Forward--blindly--
Through cold musty darkness
Hands on jagged stone--guided me
To a tiny beam of light
Shed on an old wood chest.

Heavy! was its dome
I raised to discover
My Old Rag Doll!!
And memories...
Of a childhood--forgotten.
I hugged and kissed this dear old friend
And gently lay her back to sleep.
Wiped the sting from my cheek
And headed home shyly.

Letting Go

I'm feeling angry
I'm feeling sad
Revengeful thoughts
I know are bad.

What to do?
What to say?
Let it go
Enjoy the day.

Into Your hands
I place it all
Whatever happens
It's Your call.

Please enter my heart
And fill this space
With Your love
With Your grace.

Finding Serenity

There is a place in my dreams
I frequently go
Where butterflies flutter
And earthworms glow.

Leaves like diamonds
In the wind they rustle
Away from the city
It's hubbub and bustle.

Brooks and streams
Flow crystal clear
As perfect gifts they do mirror
The beauty of His wondrous love
Yeah! The power of my God above.

On Eagle's Wings

Broken heart
Once again
Feelings hurt
Hence flows pain.

Like waterfalls
Over the edge
And tears
Cascading low.

The Spirit calls
My yearning heart
His wondrous love
He does impart.

With healing
As on eagle's wings
Renewed strength
My heart sings.

Soaring high
Above the trees
Lifted up
I am free.

Passionate Hope

Burning sensation in my soul
To be all I desire
Old messages of my youth
Seek to quench the fire.

Powerful! Oh so powerful!
They invade my mind
But as truth kindles the flame
Inner peace I'm certain to find.

Stolen Innocence

Trembling with the raging thunder
Memories of they who plunder
This child's innocence once born
For eternity I will mourn.

Angry flames rage within
Blinding me of their sin
Through a looking glass darkly others see
The pain and shame inside of me.

I'm not alone! I never knew!
My heavy heart no longer blue
Compassionate friends evermore
Led me to the healing door.

Blood pulses my veins so warm
Calm as the night before the storm
Pure as the harp's melodious sound
Awesome... as these miracles abound.

A Volleyball Haiku

Random faces unknown
Serve, set, hit over the net
Keep it in the zone.

Rally, leap, spike
With the sand between our toes
Using all our might.

Persevering sweat
As we scramble for the ball
Expectations met.

Joyful happy sight
Young and old, families too
Playing in the night.

Hydrating at rest
Laughter, chatter, connection
New friends are the best.
